Have you thanked a principal lately? Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week was celebrated across Virginia during the week of January 14-18. Principals have enormous responsibility in our public schools!

Principals Appreciation Week
WHEREAS, educating the children of Virginia by increasing their knowledge and understanding and developing positive character traits is of paramount importance in our Commonwealth, and Virginians are committed to ensuring that no child is left behind; and
WHEREAS, parents and guardians are responsible for the education of their children, and principals and teachers are entrusted to guide, direct and impart knowledge to their kids while they are at school; and
WHEREAS, the combined efforts and responsible guidance of our school principals, teachers, and parents are preparing children to be self-reliant and productive citizens; and
WHEREAS, principals work tirelessly in communities across Virginia to maintain academic accountability through the Virginia Standards of Learning, to ensure a safe and productive learning environment for all students, and to encourage and facilitate teachers’ and parents’ efforts to make a positive difference in the lives of our young people; and
WHEREAS, with wisdom and strength of character, principals strive to serve as mentors to teachers and students by providing consistent support and direction; and
WHEREAS, by their diligent work, enthusiasm, perseverance, and sense of duty, principals provide educational leadership throughout our great Commonwealth that helps maintain the standards of excellence expected in the education of Virginia’s next generation;
NOW,
THEREFORE, I, Timothy M. Kaine, do hereby recognize January 14 – 18, 2008 as
PRINCIPALS APPRECIATION WEEK in the
COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
