Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week

Have you thanked a principal lately?  Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week was celebrated across Virginia during the week of January 14-18.  Principals have enormous responsibility in our public schools!
  • Preparation for the principal role begins early in their careers, starting with successful teaching experience, then on to a masters level or higher administrative program of study.
  • As with all licensed staff in the schools, principals must continue their education with professional development tailored for their position.
  • Principals share responsibility for all that goes on within their schools!
    • From ensuring that the facilities are in good working order,
    • to hiring-->scheduling-->supervising building staff,
    • to helping organize and supervise instructional programs,
    • to handling a myriad of student issues,
    • to communicating with parents and the community,
    • to coordinating extracurricular activities--especially at the secondary level,
    • to coordinating the complicated budget and finance process for their school,
    • and to providing numerous reports and other feedback to local and state officials

Our principals work hard, and we appreciate what they do;  Thanks again, to Martha Reish, Les Balgavy & Pete Pitard!
