Dr. Michael Perry, Bath County High School Principal

Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to BCHS, home of the Bath County Chargers! It is my honor and privilege to serve as Bath County High School Principal and Mertz Career and Technical Center Director. I came on board in July, 2017 and can say that my experience here has already provided some of the most enjoyable and rewarding times of my 36 plus years in public education.
At BCHS we enjoy the advantages of serving a small, close-knit, caring, rural community, that embodies and promotes the ideals upon which our great country was founded. Our community and local government provides outstanding support for our school system. While we have a small student population (215 in grades 8-12), we are surprisingly diverse and unfailingly welcoming. We enjoy a low teacher/ pupil ratio and we are able to offer a broad and deep curriculum that will challenge and prepare our students for success regardless of the life path they choose. Besides our advanced and standard diplomas, we offer opportunities to earn college credits through Dual Enrollment, Governor’s School, and Advanced Placement classes.
Through our Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses students have the opportunity to earn industry certifications in a variety of completer sequences. Our students also have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities including varsity sports and school-sponsored clubs. Our BCHS Band is renowned for its excellence and success competing at the very highest level. The BCHS faculty and I welcome you to contact us any time we may be of assistance. I believe you will see that Bath County High School is deserving of being called “The Best Small High School in Virginia!”
