Parents and Students,
Thank you for a great start to the school year. This year's Back to School day had record breaking attendance and made it so much easier for the first day of school. The students have settled in well and our expectations assembly went great yesterday. This is my sixth year at BCHS and I am now finding that I can relax a bit with my upper classmen because they know the deal. Here's to a smooth and successful start to the school year.
Our sports schedules can be found under the Athletics tab on the BCHS website. The schedule can be viewed by double clicking Pioneer District in the left menu options. This will take you to an outside link where you chose Bath County and you can view our schedule online.
Don't have time for all that?
If you have a Smart Phone you can get our schedule on the go! Go to the APP Store or Google Play and search for: Activity Scheduler (you should see a baseball cap). Once downloaded select Virginia and the Pioneer District. You can chose just one sport or view all. The app is free and very helpful on the run!
Concussions are becoming more and more prevalent in sports. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has an application available with helpful information explaining concussions. To get the application go to your APP store or Google Play and search for: cdc heads up concussion and helmet safety. The application is free and something that will provide you with a wealth of information that could save your child's life.
I want to thank the BCHS and Mertz community for finishing another successful year. They are folks that make the magic happen each and every day. It was bittersweet to see my first group of students walk across that stage because I realized how just how quickly they grow up. I also want to thank all the parents, guardians, grandparents, and friends for sharing your children with me and allowing me to watch as they grown into wonderful young men and women.
Homework is a struggle for students and their parent/guardian(s). This year BCHS is offering time for your students to stay after school to get some of their work done. Students can stay after every Wednesday from 3:40-6:00 pm. They can ride the activity bus or you can pick them up.
The mission of Bath County High School is to provide a nurturing, accepting environment that recognizes individual qualities and needs and enables students to become self-directed, lifelong learners.
