Lane, Ed.D., Superintendent of Public Instruction SUBJECT: National School Counseling Week, February 4-8, 2019 The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) would like to recognize professional school counselors during the week of February 4-8, 2019, as we celebrate National School Counseling Week.
The CFE Family Movie Night is scheduled for Friday night, November 30th at 6:00 p.m. We will be showing “Hotel Transylvania 3.” There is no admission fee, however the CFE will have pizza, popcorn, snow cones, baked goods and drinks for purchase.
October is National Farm to School Month. Farm to school is a way to get more local foods into school cafeterias. As part of this, Friday October 5th at 10:00 AM is the Crunch Heard ‘Round the Commonwealth, a celebration developed to highlight the Virginia Farm to School program. Due to the possibility of inclement weather, the Bath County Fair has been postponed until Saturday September 29th. Keep safe this weekend and we look forward to seeing you on the 29th.
A bus and staff will be at Covington Walmart to support Pack the Bus on Saturday (August 4) to collect donations from 10 AM to 6 PM. Come enjoy the tax free weekend and support Bath County Schools.
Students will need some specific supplies for the new 2018/2019 school year. MES is working to keep beginning of the year costs down for parents and families with regard to the school supply list. Donations from community partners, adjustments to the classroom lists and the use of some internal surplus supplies have helped in drastically reducing the school supply list.

We celebrated the annual Bath County Fair on September 16th. It was a wonderful day for everyone. There were lots of activities for all ages, food, and fun! We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make this year’s fair successful. We are so blessed to live in a community that comes together for each other!
Last week we celebrated our 2015-16 SOL student successes with our annual Academic Banquet. Everyone had a wonderful dinner. Afterward we honored our students with award certificates and trophies. A great time was had by all. We are so proud of all of our students and their achievements. Thank you parents for sending your child to school ready to learn!
Last week we celebrated Halloween with a costume parade and Trunk or Treat. We want to thank our community for supporting our efforts by providing decorated trunks and lots of treats for our students. Everyone had a great time watching the children in their costumes and seeing all the smiling faces.
